China National Offshore Oil Corporation, or CNOOC Group, is the largest producer of offshore crude oil and natural gas in China, and is also one of the largest independent oil and gas producers in the world.
CNOOC International is the international division of CNOOC Limited, and has operations in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe, focused on safely exploring and producing from offshore, unconventional and oil sands assets.
An Urgent Need for Digital Transformation
Faced with an outdated CMS and many disparate website properties, CNOOC faced a need to evolve their digital experience management. Internally, the organization needed to improve the content authoring flow and optimize delivery of new experiences to their users with a modern and scalable solution. Externally, a unified online presence was required across all digital platforms to provide an improved user experience.
Achieving these goals required simplifying and enhancing their internal marketer experience, making it easier for the marketing team to get more value out of their platform. Modernizing CNOOC International With a Digital Upgrade
With their website previously on Sitecore 6, CNOOC’s CMS platform was outdated and holding them back. Fishtank gave them a new digital home, upgrading their CMS to Sitecore 9 XP, deploying new multi-environment infrastructure and giving them access to the latest digital marketing tools and features.
Empowering Content Authors
CNOOC’s previous CMS and website was difficult to manage and update, and their team was heavily reliant on external vendors for simple changes to their site. Fishtank empowered CNOOC’s content authors and marketing team with the ability to edit and create content easily without technical assistance, as well as providing plenty of training to ensure they can expertly manage their web properties without any external assistance.
Minimize disruption
A fast delivery of the project, with a four month life-cycle including discovery, infrastructure, design, build, testing, training and launch meant there was little disruption to overall web presence and CNOOC could take advantage of their new site and upgraded digital presence faster than ever.
