The University of Manitoba is a public research university. The University of Manitoba contacted Fishtank to replace their Google-based site search with a new AI-powered Coveo search platform. Their current Google-based search was not meeting the needs of the University; they decided it was no longer a viable solution. The U of M needed the ability to find information and create unique search experiences for their users, connecting them with different collections of the University’s content.

Coveo’s AI-based search solution understands users’ intent and the context behind it, showing relevant and personalized search results for an enhanced user experience. The introduction of Coveo from our team to the University of Manitoba site resulted in an improved universal site search and unique search experiences for faculty sites. We were also able to introduce faceted searches for prospective students finding a program of study, students, faculty, and staff for finding information services and technology services, and for students to find financial awards they are eligible for.

Having such a high-level search function solved the problems with the search users had and allowed the University to provide a better experience for searchers on the site.
