Meet the Canada Council for the Arts

The Canada Council for the Arts (CCA) is a Canadian crown corporation dedicated to fostering and promoting the study, enjoyment, and production of artworks. The council nurtures and supports the creation of arts for Canadians, providing funding and resources to pursue creative goals. The organization ensures that Canadian artists have opportunities to thrive in Canada’s art landscape and that art is accessible to communities across Canada.

A Much Needed Digital Transformation

When our work with the Canada Council for the Arts began, they needed their organization to go through digital transformation. At the time, their Sitecore and Coveo instances had not been upgraded for over five years and were beginning to cause problems. With no upgrades in five years, it was no surprise they ran into performance, security, internal efficiency, and user experience issues. Alongside those issues, they also believed that the search experience was no longer meeting their user experience goals and wasn’t optimal for discoverability and content accessibility. With these issues spanning nine different websites translated into English and French, CCA knew they needed a partner to accomplish this transformation.

Upgrades, Upgrades, Upgrades!

We knew we could be the partner CCA needed to achieve their digital transformation goal and redevelop their search experience. Since CCA hadn’t had an upgrade to their Sitecore in 5 years, we started with our focus on that. We upgraded Sitecore, staggering our approach across all nine of the websites in CCA’s control, upgrading and migrating their English and French content to the new version of every website. There were also a few websites that needed upgrades to Coveo, again not having them in over five years, alongside needing an overhaul to the search experience. We provided CCA with upgrades to all the websites using Coveo for their search platform; we then began our work to redevelop the search experience, focusing on enhancing discoverability and content accessibility and providing users with a more relevant and engaging experience.

Empowering CCA with Advanced Digital Tools

Embracing its much-needed digital transformation, the Canada Council for the Arts got the upgrades they desperately needed to their system. Our upgrades provide them with a modern, scalable, and future-proof foundation for their digital presence. Alongside solving the other issues CCA was running into using outdated systems, the latest versions of these platforms allow CCA to leverage future advancements and innovations, ensuring that their digital presence remains competitive and relevant for as long as possible. Redeveloping their search experience allowed us to make their expansive collection of content easily discoverable and accessible to their audience. Making content easily accessible gives users access to highly relevant and personalized search experiences. Our work has improved the user experience and allowed CCA to take control of their digital presence.
