Getting Started
Coveo has made it simpler than ever to get started with the Coveo Cloud Platform. If you remember our previous blog post regarding signing up via the API, this new way has made it very straight forward.
Who Is It For?
While everyone loves a free trial, sometimes those free trials are limited versions of a full version. Not in this case. It's about as full fledged as you can get. So who might want it? Well, let's break that down:
The Business Owner
It's always a good idea to have an understanding on what type of investment you'd be making. So, while you might not go in-depth during the trial on the full capabilities, this trial would give you a good enough understanding that you'd come away with knowing enough during a sales call to not feel blindsided.
The Administrator
You're going to be put in charge of managing the Coveo Cloud Platform for your own company or a potential client. Using this trial, you can see all the capabilities and responsibilities you'd have and even get a taste of it. Adding sources, mocking search pages, updating the machine learning schedules, reporting, etc.
The Marketer
You need to know how you're going to promote content, boost products or articles, ensure the right words are indexed or improve relevancy. Perhaps even understand the reporting capabilities to best present the return on investment of the tool to the business and demonstrate the right stuff is shown at the right time when it's queried.
The Developer
You're going to be integrating your site, system or a bit of each with Coveo and want to understand the inner workings of how that content gets into Coveo and how to work with it once it is.
Let's Sign Up
So let's do that. Head over to the Coveo Get Started page https://www.coveo.com/en/get-started. You'll immediately be prompted to sign in via your method of choice. For the purposes of this example, we've created a simple Gmail account to use. Obviously we can't use our existing Fishtank emails as they already have organizations.
Once you sign in, you're basically there, just fill in some basic professional details and hang tight.
Voila
Based upon the information you sign up with, your Trial organization will already be created for you. Obviously this way of doing things you have a little less freedom to how things are named. If you want more freedom, please refer to our API trial blog post on the subject.
That's it. That sets you up with a trial account, with pre-built organization. All you need to do is pick a source and have a go.
What Sources Are There?
There are many integrations available in the trial as listed below, some of which are coming soon.
- Amazon S3
- Box.com
- Confluence
- Dropbox
- Exchange
- Generic REST API
- Gmail
- Google Drive
- Jira Software
- Jive
- Khoros Community
- Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Push
- RSS
- Salesforce
- ServiceNow
- SharePoint
- Sitecore
- Sitemap
- Web
- YouTube
- Zendesk
While the list is huge, there are a couple in there that enable virtually infinite options. The Generic REST API, Push, and Web options mean you can connect to practically any platform you wish. The Push connector itself means you could even test content behind a firewall.
Still Have Questions?
That's ok, if you still have questions as to how the process is, feel free to watch the following video which walks you through the process.
